  • Role of filtration and coolant system in Honing process
  • Troubleshooting various issues that may arise during a honing operation.
  • Advantages and Limitations of Honing.

Background

Honing is an abrasive machining process that produces a precision surface on a metal work piece by scrubbing an abrasive stone against it along a controlled path. Honing is primarily used to improve the geometric form of a surface, but may also improve the surface texture. In today’s manufacturing environment, honing is widely used especially in the automobile industry to improve the performance and efficiency of various components.

To meet this demand, it is important to have a skilled workforce with a thorough knowledge of the honing process. Machine operators, line supervisors and engineering managers would benefit much from an in-depth knowledge of the process, the tool mechanism, the various parameters involved and the troubleshooting methods.

Key Takeaways

Key Take Aways after undergoing the programme, the participants will be able to learn -

  • Have a better understanding of the honing operation and its eventual outcome.
  • Communicate efficiently with the machine operators / Management and Honing Tool suppliers.
  • Machine parameters such as RPM, Pressure, Stroke length, coolant etc. and their influence on the honing process.
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the honing process and improve the Overall efficiency of the operation.
